Having worked both on-farm and in a range of industry leadership roles, Hamish has a great understanding of the exciting opportunities available in our dairy sector.
Hamish grew up on dairy farms in Whangarei and Taumarunui, and later managed the family farm. He came to DairyNZ in 2014 and has since project managed DairyNZ’s M. bovis response, implemented the valuable DBCAT initiative (helping farmers with their M. bovis compensation claims), and been involved in adverse events management and research. Most recently, Hamish has worked across DairyNZ’s COVID-19 response.
Based in Lincoln with his wife Lydia, Hamish is keen to explore Dairy Training opportunities with farmers and rural professionals both in the South Island and nationwide.

“It takes a range of practical and technical skills to farm. Ultimately as contract milkers we’re self-employed but we’re also a service provider to another business. So understanding things like contracts is important as it’s the foundation of how your business is going to operate and how the relationship is going to work.”

Build your understanding of contracts and budgeting skills to set yourself up for success in contract milking. Gain tools for smart financial decisions, connect with other farmers, and learn in a fun, relaxed setting.

Implement a range of skills to effectively lead team members and improve team performance.
